Fatty 1 – Intermittent Fasting – Day 3

Well another day has gone by.  It is getting easier each day, which is good news.

I didn’t work out this morning because I was up late last night.  By late I mean 11:00, but to work out in the morning I have to get up at  5am, which means I need to be in bed by 9.  I’m a middle aged woman, and I need my beauty sleep.

I got up and went to work.  My routine at work has for so many years included eating.  I generally eat soon after I get to work, have a snack between 10:30 and 11:00 and then lunch a few hours later, and then an afternoon snack.  OF course now that I’m not eating in the morning, I don’t get to do that.  Those were  my breaks in the daily routine,the markers of how much time left I had to be there.  Oh, it’s 10:s0, it’s time for my snack, then in a few hours I get to have lunch, and then in a few hours I get to have my afternoon snack, and then in a few hours I get to go home.  Yeah!

Eating was sort of the bright spot of my day.  Of course I would often eat even if I wasn’t hungry, because it was part of my routine, and I got to get up from my desk to go  for food.  Now I didn’t really have a reason, other than getting up to get some more tea, which is what I did.  And then going to the bathroom because I have been drinking so much tea.

One benefit was that I it made it easier to avoid the candy jar in our main office.  I think, oh I’ll just have one piece, and I do.  One piece at a time, every time I go upstairs.  Now because nothing passes my lips I didn’t have to worry about stopping myself.  And I knew that when I did start eating I could go have some candy if I wanted.

I pushed my fast period another half hour later, so now I am at 1:30.  My goal is to get up to 3:00 by doing it in half hour incremements, so that I have a 19 hour fast and 5 hour eating window from 3 to 8.

I have also been trying to break my fast with a health meal of protein and carbs that are from fruit.  So again today, I had some sliced turkey, a slice of swiss cheese, some carrots and peppers and hummus, and a half of banana.  I let that sit for a while and then if I’m going to have something more carb filled I have it after that.

I have been trying to still eat healthy.  I know I can theoretically eat whatever I want, but  I also know that isn’t really an excuse to go binging on junk.  A little junk will do me fine.  So last night after I had my dinner of a chicken quesadilla, I had a small bowl of ice cream.  I made sure that I ate the healthy stuff first.  And I found that was plenty.  It’s when I’m on some sort of diet that says I can’t have any that I can’t take it.

Tomorrow is the weekend so it will be interesting to see how that goes with having more unstructured time.
